4 Myths about Exercise & Aging 

 

Fitness is for all ages! Both young and old, keeping up with exercise is incredibly important for all ages. Not only does it play a difference with how you emotionally feel and physically move, but it helps to keep vital numbers like weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol down! However, there are many myths people believe to be true about why it could be more difficult to work out while older.  

 

1) “I’m too old to exercise” 

Did you know that not keeping active can speed up the aging process? Heart disease is twice as likely to occur, causing a need for medication. The best way to begin is with low-impact aerobic activity such as swimming!  

 

2) “I’m afraid to get hurt” 

 

In order to not get hurt, you must have enough education not to hurt yourself. We are here to help you create an exercise program which will fit into your life. Utilizing a combination of flexibility-based programs like yoga, and strength training will help you become a more well-rounded athletic individual.     

 

3) “It’s too expensive”  

You don’t need to have equipment or a fancy gym membership to get in the best shape of your life! Walking and jogging are great ways to get some fresh air and get that blood flow going! Body weight movements and using your own flight of stairs are easy ways to add resistance.
