Going through physical therapy can be a deeply personal experience for anyone. Many people are in treatment in order to fix a physical injury, which often times affects the individual in emotional ways as well. Your therapist should be kind, sensitive, engaged, and committed to help you feel better in every way! Here are some things to consider when picking a therapist and some things to be aware of.

Disengaged: Is your therapist constantly on your phone? Do you feel like you’re simply going through the motions? You need to make sure your therapist is attentive and active in your recovery process? If you don’t think they are, you may want to think about working with another therapist within the clinic. Your therapist should constantly be listening to you and your concerns, in addition to making informed decisions about what to do next!

Negative: Is there a sense of negativity surrounding your visits? Does your therapist not give you a strong sense of hope? You and your therapist should be moving in the same direction TOGETHER to get you on the right path. They should always be your number one cheerleader while remaining optimistic!

Putting Down Other Professions: Unfortunately some therapists don’t always like to work in conjunction with other physicians, and chiropractors. No method is perfect and everyone needs to work together in order to make sure the patient is being taken care of in the best possible way!
