Are You Hung Up On Knee Pain?

Runner’s Knee and Knee Pain

Have you ever experienced the pain of Runner’s Knee? Yikes! The knee acts as a hinge joint and is one of the most vital components of movement regarding the human body. The most interesting aspect of Runner’s Knee is that it is not actually a specific injury and can go by a variety of names including patellofemoral pain syndrome.

Knee pain can be caused from a variety of issues including direct hits, weak thighs, miss-alignment of the bones, overuse, etc. The main symptom is…pain! Normally in the front of the kneecap, when you walk or run, and when going up or down stairs.

After receiving a doctor’s diagnosis, there’s many ways to become pain free! Rest to avoid applying more stress on the knee! Ice reduces swelling, and compression bandages provide support where needed! To increase the strength of the knee and promote flexibility, try physical therapy! Therapy can provide exercises which will train your muscles to minimize excessive force on the knee joint. Stretches reduce tension in the knee area for increased mobility.
